Matt Martindale is a song-writer, attorney, producer, and the former lead singer/ rhythm guitar player and song writer for the Texas Country band “Cooder Graw.”
He has penned many notable Texas favorites such as “Better Days,” “Llano Estacado,” “New Dress,” “State Line,” “Shifting Gears,” “That Girl Crystal,” “Clarksdale,” “Lifetime Stand,” and numerous others. Martindale recorded 3 studio albums with Cooder Graw and 3 live albums with Cooder Graw before that band dissolved in 2006. Since that time Martindale recorded a solo album released in October 2009 entitled “Big Sign,” with three singles coming off that album, “Cinderella Time,” “Ain’t Afraid,” and “After the Leavin’ is Gone.”
Martindale has played with numerous Americana, Nashville, and Texas artists including but not limited to Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Jack Ingram, Pat Green, Alabama, Dwight Yoakum, Los Lonely Boys, Jimmie Vaughan, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Gary P. Nunn, Johnny Bush, Asleep at the Wheel, Tim McGraw, Kelli Willis, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Joe Ely.
He had two songs appear in the Jamie Foxx movie “Held Up.” Additionally he recorded a song with Willie Nelson and Johnny Bush which appeared on Johnny Bush’s album, “Honky Tonic,” and was a version of ,”I Gotta Get Drunk,” written by Nelson. In addition he appeared in the Independent film, “Coyote Funeral.”
Martindale also wrote two songs which were used for national Dodge commercials, as well as singing on two other National Dodge commercials, notably the, “Bigger in Texas, Better in a Dodge,” campaign.
Today Martindale practices law in Amarillo and the surrounding areas, handling criminal law, family law, and estate planning issues. He is married to Erin and this year they will celebrate their 14th anniversary. They have two amazing daughters, Molly and Emma, age 12 and 10.
